About Bosnia

Bosnia and Herzegovina make up a triangular-shaped republic, on the Balkan peninsula. The Bosnian region in the north is mountainous and covered with thick forests. The Herzegovina region in the south is a largely rugged, flat farmland. Today, the country maintains high literacy, life expectancy and education levels. Bosnia and Herzegovina is regionally and internationally renowned for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country located in the southeastern portion of Europe, located on the Balkan Peninsula. The largest city in the country is Sarajevo, which is also its capital. The country has a large urban lifestyle with about 430,000 people calling it home. It is on the Adriatic Sea and borders the countries of Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia. It only has about 12 miles of coastline along the water. The interior of the country is mostly mountains, and yet it has a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout.
The cost of living in Bosnia and Herzegovina ranges significantly. Compared to other European countries, it is less expensive overall. Food and transportation remain affordable, with an average meal costing under €15 at a restaurant. Many students live in dormatories or nearby flats. Some students pay more to live off campus. Additionally, many students will stay with sponsor families to lower costs overall.


International University of Gorazde

The International University of Goražde (IUG) is a private university located in the city of Goražde, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The university was established by Edina Brutus and Dr. Emir Duranović.[citation needed] IUG is open to students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and all over the Levant and Middle East. and the language of instruction and communication is English. It offers education according to Bologna system ( I. cycle, II. cycle and III. cycle diplomas). IUG has 149 students on 4 Faculties and 15 Departments performing academic activities in disciplines of Science, Engineering, and Social Sciences. First generation of students was enrole on IUG in academic year 2014/2015.
The university has only an Executive Board. The Rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmed Avdagić, was born in Potočari (Srebrenica). He was a student on the Faculty of Political Sciences-FPN in University of Sarajevo, where he completed his master and doctoral degrees. He is married and has 6 children. Other main faculty at the IUG are: Dean Dr. Muhamed Suljić (Faculty of Medical Sciences-FZN), Prof. Dr. Snežana Komatina (Faculty of Technical Sciences-FTN), Dr. Elvira Čekić (Faculty of Educational Sciences-FEN) and Prof. Dr. Vladimir Stojanović (Faculty of Social Sciences-FDN).
